Landmine kills soldier, injures four others Print E-mail

A soldier was killed and four others were wounded in a landmine blast Tuesday at a paramilitary police station blamed on separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), an official statement said. The mine was set off by remote control as soldiers were checking a vehicle delivering food supplies to their station in the village of Kocakoç, in Tunceli province in eastern Turkey, a statement from the local governor's office said.

The pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) has no problems with Turkey's borders, the Turkish flag or Turkish being the official language, said deputy Hasip Kaplan from the southeastern Şırnak region at a conference titled “Why, How, Constitution for Who?” organized by the Freedom and Solidarity Party (ÖDP) Izmir office yesterday, while noting that constitutions are documents to display reconciliation within society and the modernity of countries.

Nine PKK members killed in clashes Print E-mail

Nine members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have been killed in two separate clashes with the army in the southeast, announced the military Saturday. One of the clashes, in which four militants of the separatist PKK were killed, occurred overnight in a mountainous area in the province of Hakkari, bordering Iraq and Iran, a statement on the army's Web site said.

Turkish troops and members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) clashed on a mountain in southeastern Turkey, and at least five PKK members were killed, according to private NTV television.
